John Johnson
John Johnson
In 1966, John came to Christ through the ministry of Youth for Christ. He earned his B.A. from San Diego State University, followed by an M.Div. and Th.M. from Western Seminary. Later, he completed a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. John's pastoral journey began at Milwaukie Covenant Church, extending to lead pastoral roles in Portland and Europe. Along with being a Senior Pastor for 35 years, he has served for 20 years as a Professor of Pastoral Theology and Leadership at Western Seminary. Internationally, he has taught and continues to teach, in several seminaries, developing global and theologically centered leaders. A prolific writer, his books and articles reflect his conviction that the future of the church rests upon the health of its leaders. Married to Heather with children Nate and Kate, his life balances faith, leadership, and personal interests like biking and reading. John's legacy continues to shape the lives of those he has touched, and his story is a testament to the enduring impact of a life dedicated to faith and leadership.
