Kent Jack Humphreys (June 29, 1946 - January 30, 2013) was a passionate businessman, author, and speaker who dedicated his life to inspiring others through his faith and wisdom. Born in Oklahoma City, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1968. He met his wife, Davidene, in high school, and they were married for 46 years. From 1968 to 1972, Kent served as an Officer in the United States Army Medical Service Corps, retiring as a Captain. He was stationed in Vietnam and earned the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal for his service. After his military service, Kent returned to Oklahoma City and joined his brothers, Kirk and Craig, in the distribution business. As co-owner, President, and CEO of Jack's Merchandising and Distribution from 1972 to 1997, he established himself as a successful entrepreneur. Kent later ventured into real estate and founded American Health Diagnostics. Throughout his career, Kent was driven by his love for God and people. He spoke to businessmen and churches, sharing his faith and creative ideas for positively impacting communities. Kent authored thirteen books, including "Show and Then Tell" and the widely acclaimed "Shepherding Horses." He also wrote thousands of heartfelt letters, many of which were published in a series titled "From My Heart to Yours." Kent served as President of the Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI) from 2002 to 2007, leading business owners and executives across the U.S. and in twenty nations. He continued to support the organization as an Ambassador after retiring from his role as President. In addition to his business pursuits, Kent mentored young marketplace leaders and spent time speaking to business leaders and pastors. Kent was affectionately known as "The Wads" or "Captain" by his family, with whom he shared a deep bond. He was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly fond of his beloved OU teams and the OKC Thunder. Kent's life was guided by his favorite verse, Philippians 3:10, and he strived to encourage others and share God's love. He leaves behind a legacy through his wife, Davidene; their children, Lance, Kenda, and Kami; and his grandchildren, Jake, Emily, Caleb, Hannah, Nathan, Rebekah, Carly, and Mack. His enduring passion and commitment to inspiring others will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.
