Gerry Breshears
Dr. Gerry Breshears is a professor of systematic theology and chair of the Division of Biblical and Theological Studies at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He accepted Christ as his personal savior when he was eight years old and after spending four years (during his high school and college years) intellectually skeptical of Christianity, he recommitted to being a disciple of Christ.
Gerry is currently an elder and preaching team member at Grace Community Church in Gresham, Oregon. He has also been a visiting professor at seminaries across the United States and around the world: including countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Lebanon, Russia, Philippines, Taiwan, the Netherlands and Canada.
Dr. Breshears has co-written numerous books and widely contributed to Christian publications such as the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Grace Vine, Decision Magazine, among others. He currently serves on the National Executive Committee of the Evangelical Theological Society. Gerry is also a board member of the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Portland and Interact Ministries, which promotes making disciples among the least reached people of Russia, Canada, and Alaska. He has been married since 1968 to his wife Sherry and has two sons and a daughter. Together they enjoy ministering and extending hospitality to others. Gerry's hobbies include traveling, hiking, and reading.
