Bruce Waltke
Bruce Waltke (born1930) earned his Th.D. in Greek and New Testament (Dallas Theological Seminary, 1958) and his Ph.D. in Ancient Near Eastern Language and Literatures (Harvard University, 1965). He taught at Dallas Theological Seminary (1958—1975), Regent College (an affiliate of University of British Columbia, 1976—1985, 1991—1997), Westminster Theological Seminary (1985—1991), Reformed Theological Seminary (1997—2010), and Knox Theological Seminary (2010—2014). He is currently professor emeritus at Regent College and distinguished professor emeritus at Knox. He helped translate the New American Standard Bible and has been a member of the translation committee for the New International Version since 1974. He co-authored with M.P. O’Connor, An Introduction to Biblical Hebrew Syntax (1990), The Federation of Evangelical Publishers awarded their gold medallion for the best book of the year in Biblical Studies to his Genesis: A Commentary (2000) and to his An Old Testament Theology (2006); Christianity Today awarded its Book of Merit to How to Read and Understand the Psalms (2023), co-authored with Rev. Dr. Fred Zaspel. His magnum opus is a two volume commentary on Proverbs (2004). Bruce is the father of three grown children, and an ordained Anglican priest.
