FIFTH CENTURY. Bible commentator. A presbyter of Antioch, he compiled a Greek commentary on Mark from studies in Matthew, Luke, and John by earlier writers such as Origen, Titus of Bostra, [[Theodore of Mopsuestia]], Chrysostom, and Cyril of Alexandria. The earliest extant commentary on Mark, it was very popular in the East, and survived in more than fifty codices of the gospels. Victor wrote also a commentary on Jeremiah.
