URI (ū'rī, Heb. ’ûrî, fiery)

The father of Bezalel (Exod.31.2; Exod.35.30; Exod.38.22; 1Chr.2.20; 2Chr.1.5).The father of Geber, one of the twelve provision officers of Solomon (1Kgs.4.19).A porter of the temple who put away his foreign wife (Ezra.10.24).



URI yŏŏr’ ī (אוּרִ֥י). 1. Son of Hur, and father of Bezalel, a builder of the Tabernacle (Exod 31:2; 35:30; 38:22; 1 Chron 2:20; 2 Chron 1:5).

2. Father of Geber, Solomon’s tax gatherer (1 Kings 4:19).

3. A porter of the Temple who put away his foreign wife in the time of Ezra (Ezra 10:24).

u’-ri, oo’-ri (uri (uwri in 1Ki 4:19), "fiery," unless the word be contracted for ’uriyah, "Uriah"):

(1) Son of Hur, and father of Bezalel (Ex 31:2; 35:30; 38:22; 1Ch 2:20; 2Ch 1:5).

(2) Father of Geber, one of Solomon’s 12 provision officers (1Ki 4:19; the Septuagint’s Codex Vaticanus and Codex Alexandrinus, Adai).

(3) A porter who had married a foreign wife (Ezr 10:24; the Septuagint’s Odouth; Codex Alexandrinus Odoue; Lucian Ourias).
