Urho Rafael Muroma
1890-1966. Finnish pastor. His early career included work among seamen in New York and participation in the labors of the Finnish Missionary Society. Gradually he realized that evangelization needed an organization of its own. Thus in 1940 the Evangelical Lutheran Inner Mission Foundation was started. Muroma held that those who became Christians needed to be grounded in God's Word, and therefore instruction became an important part of the foundation's work. Muroma was leader of the foundation and the Bible school and also published a large number of books, including some in which he boldly criticized the modern trends both in theology and in the church.
