Tome of St. Damasus

[[Fides Damasi]]. The collection of canons (Post Concilium Nicaenum) presented by Pope Damasus I* to bishops at a Roman synod which is variously dated between 369 and 382. It consists of a creed (a Latin rendering of Nicea, 325), to which are added twenty-four famous anathemas against heretics and schismatics, among them Sabellians, Eunomians, Macedonians, Melitius of Antioch, and Apollinarians. In the canons the [[Holy Spirit]] is said to be of one power and substance with the Father and the Son, and must be adored by all creatures, just as the Father and the Son. Damasus included the tome in his epistle Per Filium to Paulinus of Antioch.
