Thomas Whitelaw

1840-1917. Scottish Presbyterian minister and biblical scholar. Born in Perth, he was educated at St. Andrews and the United Presbyterian Theological Hall, Edinburgh, and was ordained in 1864. He held pastorates in Glasgow and Kilmarnock, refused a call to Australia, and was a special commissioner for the United Free Church* at the union of Australian Presbyterian churches in 1901. U.F. Church moderator in 1912-13, he traveled widely. He served on many key committees and wrote many books, including commentaries on Genesis, John, and Acts and a study of the divinity of Christ.
