Theodore The Lector

EARLY sixth century. Church historian. He was a “reader” of the Hagia Sophia Church, Constantinople. He wrote two historical treatises. The first (c.520-30) was a Tripartite History compiled from the histories of Socrates, Sozomen*, and Theodoret.* The second was his own composition carrying the history from 438 to the accession of Justin I (518). The first has partially survived, but only fragments of the second remain.
