The Threshing Floor of Nacon

na’-kon, (nakhon; the <span class="auto-link">[[King James Version]]</span> Nachon): The place where Uzzah was smitten for putting forth his hand to steady the ark, hence, called afterward "Perezuzzah" (<bibleref ref="2Sam.6.8">2Sa 6:8</bibleref>); in the parallel passage (<bibleref ref="1Chr.13.9">1Ch 13:9</bibleref>) we have kidhon, and in Josephus (Ant., VII, iv, 2) Cheidon. In <bibleref ref="1Sam.23.23">1Sa 23:23</bibleref> the word nakhon occurs, and is translated "of a certainty," margin "with the certainty" or "to a set place"; also in <bibleref ref="1Sam.26.4">1Sa 26:4</bibleref> it is translated "of a certainty," margin "to a set place." It is uncertain whether in <bibleref ref="1Sam.6.6">1Sa 6:6</bibleref> it is a place-name at all; and no successful attempt has been made to identify either Nacon or Chidon; possibly they are both personal names.<br /><br />
