The Book of Deer

Ninth-century Gospel-book, so- called because of the Gaelic notes added to it describing the foundation and grants of land made to the monastery of Deer in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is notable for its illustrations, its evidence about social status and land-tenure, and for a Celtic liturgical fragment.
