Terror

TERROR. In ordinary usage this means extreme fear or dread, or sometimes the one who causes such agitation. The word is a translation of about a dozen Hebrew and Greek words that are rendered also by “dread,” “fear,” “horror,” “terribleness,” “ruin.” Characteristic are Ps.55.4, “the terrors of death”; Gen.35.5, “the terror of God”; and 2Cor.5.11 KJV, “the terror of the Lord.”
