TAU, TAV tou (ת, t). The twenty-second letter of the Heb. alphabet. In the KJV and ASV, it is placed at the head of the twenty-second section of Psalm 119. In the Heb. original, each verse of this section begins with this letter. It came also to be used for the number 400.
