Stachys
STACHYS (stā'kĭs, Gr. Stachys, head of grain). A Roman Christian to whom Paul sent a greeting (Rom.16.9).
STACHYS stā’ kĭs (Στάχυς, “head of grain”). The uncommon Gr. name of a Rom. Christian to whom Paul sends greetings, calling him “my beloved” (Rom 16:9). A Stachys has been found in an inscr. linked to the imperial household at this time.
