SINITES (sī'nīts, Heb. sînî). A tribe descended from Canaan (Gen.10.17; 1Chr.1.15). No definite identification is possible. SINITES sĭn’ īts (סִינִי, H6098). A Canaanite people mentioned in Genesis 10:17 and 1 Chronicles 1:15. Jerome knew of a place named Sin not far from Arka, and Strabo knew of a fortress called Sinna on Mount Lebanon; but the identification of the Sinites is uncertain. Jerome mentions a ruined city, Sin, near Arka, at the foot of Lebanon.
