Shahar

SHAHAR shā’ här (שַּׁ֗חַר). The KJV rendering of שַּׁ֗חַר in the title of Psalm 22 (RSV DAWN). In Canaanite mythology Shahar and his twin brother Shalem were sons of El, the senior god of the Canaanite pantheon. Shahar was the god of dawn, and Shalem, the god of sunset. They were comparable to Castor and Pollux of classical mythology.
