SHAALABBIN (shā'a-lăb'ĭn, Heb. sha‘alabbîn, probably haunt of foxes; cf. Judg.15.4). A town listed in Josh.19.42 between Ir Shemesh and Aijalon as assigned to the Danites. See next entry.

SHAALABBIN shā’ ə lăb’ ən (שַֽׁעֲלַבִּ֥ין, LXX Σαλαβιν, foxes, or place of foxes). A village of Dan (Josh 19:41-45). Related sites, Aijalon, Zorah, and Ir-shemesh, place it c. fifteen m. W of Jerusalem. Probably a variant of SHALABIM (q.v.).

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

A town in the territory of Da named between Irshemesh and Aijalon (Jos 19:42). It seems to be identical with SHAALBIM.
