Sectary

A term applied to some Protestant dissenters in England during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Translations of the works of Luther and other Reformers used it to describe Anabaptists* and others of the Radical Reformation.* In modern times it is occasionally used in a derogatory sense about overzealous adherents of different opinions.
