SALU (sā'lū, Heb. sālû’). A prince of the tribe of Simeon. He was the father of Zimri who was killed by Phinehas (Num.25.14). SALU sā’ lōō (סָל֑וּא). The father of Zimri, a Simeonite prince who was killed by Phinehas because he had married a Midianite woman (Num 25:14; 1 Macc 2:26; KJV SALOM). International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915) A prince and the head of a house of the tribe of Simeon and the father of Zimri who was slain by Phinehas along with the Midianite woman whom he had brought to the camp of Israel (Nu 25:14; 1; Macc 2:26).
