Reveling, Revellings

REVELING, REVELLINGS (Gr. kōmos, orgy). Any extreme intemperance and lustful indulgence, usually accompanying pagan worship. Paul lists it with murder as barring the way into the kingdom of God (Gal.5.21), and Peter denounces it (1Pet.4.3). The Greek word occurs a third time (Rom.13.13, rioting kjv; orgies niv). NIV translates another Greek word this way in 2Pet.2.13.
