Rescissory Act

1661. Passed by the Scottish Parliament after the Restoration of Charles II,* this rescinded without distinction all the statutes passed since 1633. This erased much that was worthy in Presbyterian legislation and was the prelude to the reestablishment of Episcopacy and the persecution of Covenanters.* Even some of the nobility argued this Act, but they were overruled.
