REELAIAH (rē'ăl-ā'ya, Heb. re‘ēlyâh). One of the twelve heads of families returning with Zerubbabel after the Captivity (Ezra.2.2; Neh.7.7). Nehemiah renders the name “Raamiah,” but “Reelaiah” seems to be the preferred form. REELAIAH. Alternate form of Raamiah. International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915) re-el-a’-ya, re-el-i’-a (re`elyah): One of the 12 chiefs who returned with Zerubbabel (Ezr 2:2 parallel Ne 7:7). In the passage in Ne the name is Raamiah" (ra`amyah), and in 1 Esdras 5:8 "Resaias." Which is the original, it is almost impossible to decide; "Reelaiah" seems preferable.
