QUARANTANIA kwŏr’ ăn tā’ nĭ a. According to ancient tradition, this is the mountain where Jesus was tempted by Satan (Matt 4:8-10), the modern Tell el-Sultân, W of OT Jericho. The name has reference to the forty days of the temptation.
