PREFECT (prē'fĕct). A person appointed to a position of responsibility in the Babylonian government. Mentioned only in Dan.3.2-Dan.3.3, Dan.3.27; Dan.6.7. KJV has “governor.”



PREFECT (סְגַן, H10505). A person appointed to a position of responsibility. The term is found only in Daniel 2:48; 3:2, 3, 27; 6:7 where KJV has GOVERNOR. One of several grades of officials among the Babylonians, mentioned along with satraps, governors, counselors, treasurers, and others.
