Precisian

One who is rigidly precise or punctilious in the observance of moral and religious rules. It was a term in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries applied by critics and opponents to those who were otherwise styled “Puritans”; the abuse intended referred to both strict morals and “purity of worship.”
