Pod

POD (κεράτιον, G3044). The seed case of the carob tree, commonly called the locust tree. Pods are used chiefly to feed cattle and pigs, but often are used as food by the poor. The prodigal son in the parable became so destitute that he was compelled to eat them (Luke 15:16, KJV HUSK).
