Pliny’s Letter To Trajan
Pliny was sent by Emperor Trajan about 112 to reorganize the affairs of the province of Bithynia. In one of his letters to the emperor, Pliny asked questions about the treatment of Christians and thereby supplied information about early Christian life and worshipe.g., he referred to services before dawn and late in the evening on one day (Sunday). Admitting that the “contagion” of Christianity had penetrated both cities and villages and that he had executed some resolute Christians, he asked Trajan how he should deal with those who were accused of Christianity. In reply, Trajan advised him not to search out Christians, but only to punish those accused and convicted.
