Pierre Allix

1641-1717. French Reformed pastor. He ministered at St. Agobile, then at Charenton, but revocation of the Edict of Nantes* in 1685 compelled him to flee to England, where he began a church for French exiles in London. He was a prolific writer, replying to Bossuet and seeking to show that the Albigensians* were true Christians and not heretics. Bishop Gilbert Burnet appointed him canon of Salisbury cathedral, and he received doctorates from both Oxford and Cambridge.
