Paulinus of Trier

d.358. Anti-Arian bishop. Succeeding Maximin as bishop of Trier, he was a staunch opponent of Arianism* when Constantius induced other Western bishops at the Synod of Arles (353) to accept an Arian formula. Paulinus alone stood firm, and was banished to Phrygia where he died in exile.
