Pantaleon
d. c.305. Christian martyr. Nothing certain is known of him, but he is said to have been physician to Emperor Galerius of Nicomedia. Converted in early life through his mother, he fell away through the worldly court life, but was restored to faith through one Hermolaus. He suffered martyrdom under Diocletian's purge of Christians from the court. His cult has been very popular, especially in the East, and he is regarded as one of the patron saints of physicians.
