NEBAT (nē'băt). The father of Jeroboam I, the first king of the northern confederacy after the great schism (1Kgs.12.15).

NEBAT nē’ băt (נְבָ֨ט). Father of Jeroboam I (1 Kings 11:26ff.).

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

Father of Jeroboam I (1Ki 11:26, and frequently elsewhere). The name occurs only in the phrase "Jeroboam the son of Nebat," and is evidently intended to distinguish Jeroboam I from the later son of Joash.
