MYNDOS mĭn’ dəs (Μύνδος). A city on the coast of Caria in Asia Minor at the far end of the peninsula, noted for silver mines; identified as modern Gumushli. It is one of the places to which the Rom. senate, in 139 b.c., sent a letter in behalf of the Jews (1 Macc 15:23 KJV MYNDUS), and it was therefore prob. independent of the Carian confederacy.
