Mattan
MATTAN măt’ ən (מַתָּן, gift). 1. A priest of Baal killed by Jehoiada before an altar of Baal (2 Kings 11:18; 2 Chron 23:17).
2. The father of Shephatiah, a prince who was among those who persecuted Jeremiah and put him in prison (Jer 38:1).

(mattan, "a gift"):
(1) A priest in the house of Baal, slain by Jehoiada before Baal’s altar (2Ki 11:18; 2Ch 23:17).
(2) The father of Shephatiah a contemporary and persecutor of Jeremiah (Jer 38:1), one of those who put Jeremiah into Malechiah’s dungeon (38:6).
