Kenneth Escott Kirk

1886-1954. Bishop of Oxford. Educated at Oxford, he saw chaplaincy service in World War I before returning to Oxford (1922-37) where finally he held the chair of moral and pastoral theology. Consecrated bishop in 1937, he continued his writing, particularly on moral theology, and is probably best known for The Vision of God (1931) and The Apostolic Ministry (1946).
