HARMON (hăr'me*chn ). Amos.4.3 names this as a place to which the people of Samaria would be exiled. No such place is known, and the text appears to be a corruption. Many suggestions have been made as to its meaning (e.g., kjv “cast them into the palace”), but scholars can reach no agreement.

HARMON här’ mən (הַהַרְמֹ֖ונָה). The name of a place to which the people of Samaria were to be exiled. It is mentioned only in Amos 4:3. No place with this name is known. The text is obviously corrupt, and ancient VSS and commentators differ on what they think it was originally like. Many emendations in the taxt have been suggested, but none meets the approval of all scholars.
