HAGGITH (hăg'ĭth, festal). Wife of David (2Sam.3.4) and mother of Adonijah (1Kgs.1.5-1Kgs.1.31).

HAGGITH hăg’ ĭth (חַגִּ֑ית, born on a feast day). One of David’s wives; the mother of Adonijah, who was born in Hebron when David’s capital was there. Later he tried to secure the throne for himself (2 Sam 3:4; 1 Kings 1:5, 11; 2:13; 1 Chron 3:2).

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

According to 2Sa 3:4; 1Ki 1:5,11; 2:13; 1Ch 3:2, the fifth wife of David and the mother of his fourth son, Adonijah. The latter was born in Hebron while David’s capital was there (2Sa 3:4,5).
