Grind, Grinding

GRIND, GRINDING. A procedure by which grain was reduced to flour through being pulverized between two large stones. Small hand mills sometimes had holes in the center of the top stone through which the grain was poured. Larger community mills were often powered by animals (Matt 24:41; Mark 9:42).
