Gregorian Sacramentary
Early Roman liturgy. The liturgy itself is probably based on a liturgy from the papacy of Gregory the Great (590-604). Pope Hadrian I sent the Sacramentary to Emperor Charlemagne probably about 790. It was widely used in the Frankish Empire during and after the Carolingian period. A ninth-century manuscript of the Sacramentary is extant as well as several later editions and translations.
