Elberith

EL-BERITH (ěl-bĕr-īth', God of the covenant). An alternate name for the god worshiped at Shechem (Judg.9.46). Some of the people of Shechem sought safety in his temple when Abimelech destroyed the city. Possibly to be identified with Baal-Berith of Judg.8.33; Judg.9.4.



ELBERITH, EL-BERITH ĕl’ bĭr ĭth (אֵ֥ל בְּרִֽית, “God of the covenant”). An alternate name for the god worshiped at Shechem, in whose temple some of the people of Shechem took refuge when Abimelech destroyed the city (Judg 9:46).
