Concelebration

In the Roman Catholic Church the joint recitation of the Canon of the Mass by a number of priests simultaneously with the principal celebrant. It is claimed this was the practice in the primitive church, and is still the regular practice of the Orthodox communion. It only survived in the Roman Catholic Church at ordinations where the newly ordained priests concelebrated with the bishop, but has revived in recent years in that church and in occasional ecumenical celebrations.
