City of Palm Trees
CITY OF PALM TREES (עִ֥יר הַתְּמָרִ֖ים). Used as an epithet for Jericho (Deut 34:3; 2 Chron 28:15), a location occupied by the Kenites (Judg 1:16) and a place captured by King Eglon of Moab (3:13). Josephus writes of palm groves of different species at Jericho.
