Cheth (or Heth)
CHETH (or HETH) kāth (ח ḥeṭ). The eighth letter of the Heb. alphabet. It is used to represent the numeral 8. In pronunciation it was either a velar fricative or a pharyngal fricative, since both proto-Sem. phonemes had fallen together (Arab. ḫ and ḥ) in Heb.
