Charles Fox Burney

1868-1925. Anglican Bible scholar. Educated at Merchant Taylors School and Oxford, he was ordained, lectured in Hebrew at Oxford (1893), and was university librarian (1897-1908). He lectured on the Septuagint at Oxford, where in 1914 he became Oriel professor of the interpretation of Holy Scripture. His many publications include Outlines of Old Testament Theology (1899), Notes on the Hebrew Text of the Books of Kings (1903), The Book of Judges (1918), and Poetry of our Lord (1925).
