Charles Albert Blanchard
1848-1925. President of Wheaton College, Illinois, for forty-three years. Born in Galesburg, Illinois, he graduated from the college during the presidency of his father, Jonathan. When called to succeed him, Charles had already been associated with the school for ten years. In a real sense Wheaton College was his life; he it was who maintained its conservative evangelical character and gave it stature as an educational institution. From 1891 to 1893 he was also pastor of the Chicago Avenue Church in Chicago (now Moody Memorial Church).
