Charioteer

CHARIOTEER (רַכָּ֗ב). In the two OT narratives which tell of Ahab’s death, reference is made to his charioteer. In one Ahab spoke to “the driver of his chariot” (1 Kings 22:34), and in the other to “the chariot man” (2 Chron 18:33). Assyrian and Egyptian reliefs depict the chariots of the day which normally carried a driver or charioteer, and one or three warriors as well.
