Breakfast

BREAKFAST brĕk’ fəst (ἀριστάω, G753). Breakfast is the first meal in the day, the meal after fasting, literally, “breaking the fast.” Jesus used the Gr. term in its original meaning during one of His post-resurrection appearances. In early dawn He stood on the shore of Galilee and called seven fishermen of His disciples to “Come and have breakfast” (John 21:12). John added, “When they had finished breakfast...” (21:15). Later the Gr. was tr. “to dine” (Matt 22:4; Luke 11:37; 14:12).
