Berites

BERITES (bē'rīts, Heb. bērîm, choice young men). Mentioned only in 2Sam.20.14. During the revolt of Sheba these people responded to his call and followed him.

BERITES bĭr’ īts (בֵּרִ֑ים). The KJV and ASV rendering of בֵּרִ֑ים (RSV BICHRITES) in 2 Samuel 20:14. See Bichri.

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)

The word is found only once in the Old Testament (2Sa 20:14). The passage seems to be doubtful. The suggestion of Klostermann does not improve matters any; the other proposed reading, bachrim (Vulgate, viri electi), "choice young men," is to be preferred.
