Aunt
AUNT (Heb. דּוֹדָה, H1860) appears in only three citations in the OT (Exod 6:20; Lev 18:14; 20:20), all of which deal with prohibitions against incest. Such terms in Heb. are often, as in this case, derived from terms of endearment used by young children.
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (1915)
dodhah, ("loving"): A father’s sister (Ex 6:20); an uncle’s wife (Le 18:14; 20:20). See Family Relationships.
