Andrea Della Robbia
1435-1528. Nephew and adopted son of Luca della Robbia.* His works are principally in terracotta, and progressively demonstrate a departure from the refined simplicity of his uncle. Although greatly impressed by Luca's training, Andrea yielded to many outside influences, chiefly Verrochio's. His Madonna and Child is in the National Museum of Florence, and his series of medallions with infants (i Puttini), done for the Foundling Hospital in Florence, is one of his best works.
